If you’re the type that gets in a car and likes to put the pedal to the metal, you may want to ease up on that pedal. This should be true wherever you are but one should pay special attention to their speedometer when they are in the state of Virginia. The state charges up to one hundred dollars more than the national average but they have also just added a new $1,050 surcharge for first-time offenders for those that live in the state. Watch the speed when traveling in Georgia as well. They not only have a charge of $1,000 for first-time offenders but these offenders could also be put in jail for up to one year. Other states that carry the $1,000 fine are Nevada and New Hampshire but there you will not serve any time in jail.
